338 Fillmore Street, Harpers Ferry

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the Smallwood House listed in the House and Garden Brochure will not be available for touring.

Harper Cemetery (POI) will still be open to visitors.

From Charles Town: Take Washington Street WV 51N to US 340N for 6.5 miles. **The freeway will end with the road narrowing to two lanes. As you proceed down the hill, there will be a left turn sign and a left turning lane at Union Street. Turn left on Union Street. At the first four-way stop, turn right onto Washington Street. At the fifth street, turn right onto Columbia Street. At the first stop sign, turn left onto Fillmore Street. Continue past Lancaster Street and the graveyard will be on your right.

From Martinsburg: Take Rt 9E for approximately 14 miles. Take the WV 51/US 340 exit towards Charles Town/Harpers Ferry. Turn left at the end of the ramp. Continue 5.4 miles on US 340N. Proceed from ** above.


515 S. Samuel Street, Charles Town

From Harpers Ferry: Turn around and continue west on Fillmore Street. Continue through the four-way stop to the next stop sign at Washington Street. Turn left onto Washington Street. Follow it through Bolivar for 1.3 miles to US 340. Turn right onto US 340 south. Continue for 5.7 miles into Charles Town. The road becomes E. Washington Street/WV 51. **Turn left onto S Samuel Street, (the first street after the traffic light at Mildred Street). Continue through two stop signs to the corner of S Samuel and Hunter Street. The house is on the left just past the intersection

From Martinsburg: Take 9E to Charles Town. Take the Harpers Ferry/Charles Town exit, and turn right on to US 340/Washington Street. Continue into Charles Town and proceed from ** above.

Falling Spring Road, Shepherdstown

From Gibson-Todd House: Return to Washington Street and turn right. Continue north for 1.1 miles to the Rt 9 interchange and left to merge onto WV Rt 9 toward Martinsburg. Continue on Rt 9 for 6.6 miles to the Shepherdstown/Leetown exit. At the end of the ramp, turn right toward WV 480. **Continue on this road for 4.8 miles to the traffic light at Alternate WV 45. Morgans Grove Park is on the right. Turn right onto Morgan Grove Road and cross railroad track going 0.2 miles. Turn left between the stone pillars onto Falling Springs Road. Continue no more that 0.1 mile and the drive is directly in front of you. If you turn right, you've gone too far.

From Charles Town: Follow Rt 9 toward Martinsburg, exiting onto Rt 480 at the Shepherdstown exit. Proceed from ** above.

From Martinsburg: Follow Rt 9E toward Charles Town. Take the Shepherdstown/Leetown exit, and turn left toward WV480. Proceed from ** above.

738 Slonaker Lane, Martinsburg

From Falling Spring: Return to WV 480 and turn left at the traffic light. Proceed 4.6 miles to WV Rt 9 and turn right to merge onto the highway. **Continue 5.3 miles to a right turn for Slonaker Lane/Mt. Olive Road. NOTE: There is no traffic light. It is simply a right turn off the highway. It will be the first signed turn after Douglas Grove Road. Continue on Slonaker Lane for 0.7 miles. The house is the last house on the right on the cul de sac.

From Charles Town: Follow WV 9E toward Martinsburg. After the Shepherdstown/Leetown Road exit, proceed from **above.

From Martinsburg: From Rt 45, follow WV 9E for 1.6 miles to a left turn on Slonaker Lane. Continue on Slonaker Lane for 0.7 miles. The house is the last house on right on the cul de sac.

2298 Winchester Avenue, Martinsburg

From Buddy's House: Return on Slonaker Lane to WV Rt 9. Turn right onto the highway and continue 1.1 miles to the intersection of US Rt 11 South/Winchester Avenue. Turn left at the traffic light and continue on Rt 11 for 1.1 miles. The stone house is set back from the road on the right. Carpet World is immediately beyond the house.

From Charles Town: Take WV Rt 9 W for 16.7 miles to Martinsburg. Turn left onto US Rt 11 S. Continue on Rt 11 for 1.1 miles. The house is on the right immediately before you reach Carpet World.

From Martinsburg: Take US Rt 11 S 1.1 miles south of Apple Harvest Drive. The house is on the right immediately before you reach Carpet World.

701 Mill Race Drive, Martinsburg

From John Evans House: Turn north onto US Rt 11 and at the first traffic light turn left onto Apple Harvest Drive. Continue to Interstate 81 North. Merge onto the interstate and drive two exits to Dry Run Road (Exit 14). **Turn right at end of ramp and immediately turn right again onto Tennessee Avenue. Continue for 0.7 miles on Tennessee Avenue. At the large stone mill on the right, take a sharp right turn. Immediately take the first left onto Mill Race Drive. The first drive on the right leads to the house.

From Charles Town: Follow WV 9 W for about 15 miles to I-81 N. Take Exit 14, and proceed from **above.

From Martinsburg: Take I-81 to Exit 14 and proceed from **above.

1208 Bedington Road, Martinsburg

From Patterson's Distillery House: At the end of Mill Race Drive, turn right onto Tennessee Avenue. Continue to the stop sign at Dry Run Road and turn left. Almost immediately, take a right turn onto the northbound entrance ramp to I-81 N. Proceed north to Exit 20, WV 901 E. **Turn right at the end of the ramp and proceed to traffic light at US Rt 11. Turn right and proceed 1.4 miles to Bedington Road. Turn left and proceed 1.2 miles. The house is on the right and the drive immediately follows a sharp right turn. If you reach Scrabble Road, you have gone too far.

From Martinsburg: Proceed north on I-81 to Exit 20, WV 901 E. Proceed from ** above.

From Charles Town: Travel west on Rt 9 to I-81 exchange at Martinsburg. Take I-81 north to Exit 20. Proceed from ** above.
